API key inside a app.json

Please provide the following:

  1. SDK Version: 40
  2. Platforms(Android/iOS/web/all): Android

Hi everyone,
I would like to use MapView inside my app and I am wondering how can add the API key for google maps in my app.json without exposing this key into the remote repository. My app is not using google sign-in so I followed this tutorial → MapView - Expo Documentation , but it adds the API key into the app.json and I think it is not secure.
