Location not working in apk after upgrade to expo 40

SDK Version: 40
Platforms(Android/iOS/web/all): Android

After upgrading to expo sdk 40 the location is not returned anymore by Location.getCurrentPositionAsync({}) on the .apk build. It works fine in Expo Go.
Any suggestions about what might be the problem?
