Status bar doesn't work on Android, inside react-navigation after upgrade to SDK 40

Please provide the following:

  1. SDK Version: 40
  2. Platforms(Android/iOS/web/all): Android
  3. Add the appropriate “Tag” based on what Expo library you have a question on.

It seems that after upgrading to SDK 40, I no longer can set a color for the status bar on Android, when inside react-navigation routes.
The status bar appears semi-opaque with style dark.
