Would it be a more complicated process to upgrade the native functionalities of expo packages?

the update path is nebulous right now, you can do it but it might not be painless that’s something I want to work on improving soon but can’t give a really clear answer right now
high-level: yes you’ll have to update native stuff yourself to some degree, this is just a tradeoff you make when you detach
but we can try to make it as good as possible
