Video compression on 39 SDK Managed?

I’ve dont some research on this and as of October 2020, seems like there is no way to do any sort of video compression without ejecting and using a library like this…is that right?

Currently I’m using expo 36. I’m struggling to compress video. Image manipulator works for images but not able to compress video. Also I don’t want to eject the project as of now so is there any other way?

Hello, I have a working app that records video and saves it on the camera roll of my device, then uploads it to S3. I’m using the lowest quality posible, but the file size is still too big to upload to S3 using mobile data (The video is 1MB per second). I don’t need a very detailed video, I just need it to be small. Is there a way to record in .mp4? Or maybe a way to compress the .mov file that the expo camera saves? I’m using Expo SDK 28. Hey @aryk, that is correct. At this point in time, video compression is not offered within the Managed workflow.

Hey @adamjnav, are there any plans in the roadmap to add it?

I understand it’s hard to give a date, but should I expect the ability to compress video at all in Expo within say the next year?
